Financial Powerhouse

Charlotte is first and foremost a banking city. Controls over $2 trillion in assets, it is the second largest financial center in the nation, behind only New York. Two of the nation’s largest banks, Bank of America and Wachovia, are headquartered here. Each are ranked by Forbes magazine. Climate

Seasonal, but moderate and located 737 feet above sea level, Charlotte’s climate escapes extreme cold winters characteristic of the North, and does not experience the oppressive summer of the deep South.

Winters are short and mild, arriving in Mid-December and ending by Mid-March. Snow and sleet are usually recorded once or twice a year. But, seldom to the extent that it accumulates.

Spring, is the season of choice, the city transforms itself into a spectacle of flowers, with dogwoods, redbuds, and azaleas in full bloom. Spring continues through April with temperatures in the high 60’s and low 70’s.

July is Charlotte’s warmest month with an average temperature of 80 F, and it is then that many, Charlotteans flock to the beaches or mountains. There are days where temperatures reach well into the 90’s. Summers are one of the rainiest periods when afternoon showers are common.
